UNICHEM DAY 2026

The Association of Petrochemical Engineering Students (APCES), KNUST, in conjunction with CHEESA KNUST, CHEESA KsTU, PESA UMAT, and CREESA UCC, announces the upcoming UniChem Day 2026 — a landmark inter-university event bringing together chemical and petrochemical engineering students from four universities across Ghana.

UniChem Day 2026 is a collaborative initiative of five leading chemical engineering student associations, designed to bridge the gap between academic training and industry practice. This year's edition provides a platform for students to showcase their projects, engage with industry professionals, and gain exposure to the realities of the engineering workplace.

Through curated online courses and hands-on projects, participants will develop competencies that complement their engineering education and prepare them for the modern workplace.

The programme operates on the philosophy: Learn. Build. Analyze. Lead.

Courses on Offer

  • Programming — Python, CSS, HTML, and more
  • Data Analysis — Microsoft Excel and data tools
  • Project Management — Planning, execution, and delivery

APCES ENTREPRENEURIAL PUSH

The Association of Petrochemical Engineering Students (APCES), KNUST, under the Baffoe-Solace Led Administration, is proud to present The Entrepreneur Push — an initiative dedicated to amplifying the visibility of student-run businesses and helping young entrepreneurs gain the recognition they deserve right here on campus. Many students at KNUST are running businesses — selling food, clothing, offering services, and more — yet their reach remains limited to a small circle. The Entrepreneur Push exists to change that. Through this initiative, APCES will serve as a platform to spotlight student businesses, connect entrepreneurs with a wider campus audience, and foster a culture of enterprise and peer support within our community.

"Why let only your roommates know about your business when the whole campus can?"
Bring the business — APCES will give the push.

Kindly reach out to the Public Relations Officer if you have any concerns. Thank you.

START IT RIGHT

First impressions matter, and APCES ensured that new students stepped into their petrochemical engineering journey on solid footing. The "Start It Right" programme was designed to orient incoming students, connecting them with resources, senior colleagues, and the APCES community from day one. The event set the tone for academic excellence, professional development, and active participation in association life — because a great start shapes a great finish.

INTERNSHIP DIARIES

The transition from classroom theory to real-world industry practice is one of the most defining moments in an engineering student's journey. APCES launched the "Internship Diaries" — a platform for students to share firsthand accounts of their industrial attachment experiences. From refinery floors to laboratory benches, members opened up about how practical exposure reshaped their understanding of petrochemical engineering. The initiative fostered mentorship, career insight, and a stronger sense of community among APCES members.

MENTAL HEALTH WEBINAR

In a culture that too often rewards stoicism over openness, APCES held a candid Mental Health Webinar to break the silence around student struggles. The webinar created a safe, judgment-free space where students could speak honestly about the pressures they face — academically, socially, and personally. Seasoned coaches and mental health professionals were on hand to offer practical strategies and solutions. APCES reiterates that seeking help is a sign of strength, and that no student should navigate their challenges alone.

NAVIGATING THE INDUSTRIAL LADDER

The executive body of APCES would like to notify the general membership of an upcoming seminar on the realities and possibilities of studying Chemical/Petrochemical Engineering on the theme; Navigating the Industrial Ladder. The occasion would be coupled with a CV/résumé workshop where members who do not have CVs would be guided on creating one, and those who have will get to make improvements.
